Future Technologies

The future of hair transplant technology is very bright.

Hair regeneration technology, also popularly known as Cloning, is currently in the middle of Phase II trials with the objective of having follicular cells reproduce themselves, resulting in a very large number of hair-generating cellular units being produced.  There are 350 subjects in this study.

During a hair transplant procedure that uses hair regeneration or cloning technology, a small piece of tissue is generally removed from the neck line area.  Cells are cultured in a laboratory setting where growth is induced by proprietary catalysts.  When a sufficient number of cells are formed, they are injected into the scalp to stimulate hair growth and thickness.

The cell multiplication process can take 10 to 20 days or more in a controlled setting.

The advantage of this procedure, if it works, is that a very large number of hair can be generated from a relatively small amount of donor tissue, enabling the performance of very large hair transplant sessions and eliminating the need for multiple procedures.

Most importantly, this technique would provide the density of hair that is the dream of every hair transplant recipient.  Current techniques are limited by the availability of donor tissue from the back and sides of the head.

Once again … As a practical matter, the future of hair transplantation would involve a combination of techniques, technologies and procedures ranging from surgical to laser therapy, cloning and possibly some automation.

The bottom line is that hair transplants work and are the most natural, effective, safe, permanent and affordable solution to hair loss.
